You can use the following bookmarks to go to the relevant section of this page where you will find links to information on skills in Australia or you can scroll down to the employment overview section.

The following links are spreadsheets containing employed total (ABS) labour force data for each State and Territory from May 1998 to May 2008 (four-quarter averages). These 'dynamic' spreadsheets allow you to choose any time period which then updates a comparison graph and table for occupations and industries.
The Dynamic Industry State Spreadsheet is based on the Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC), while the Dynamic Occupations State Spreadsheet uses the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO).

The following provides a 'snapshot' of employment for Australia as a whole. These data are also provided as a table which can be viewed by clicking on this Regional Data Table link.

More information can be found from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) Labour Economics Office for each State. You can also visit the DEEWR Labour Market Information Portal (LMIP) where you can view employment information or Centrelink and DEEWR administrative data for Australia. You can also click on this link to view the regional employment profiles (Census 2001) page.
