Vacancy Report

The DEEWR Vacancy Report is a monthly online report containing: the Skilled Vacancy Index (SVI); the new Internet Vacancy Index (IVI); and the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Vacancy Index.

The Skilled Vacancy Index (SVI) is based on a count of advertisements in major metropolitan newspapers for selected occupations and is seasonally adjusted and trended each month.

The ICT Vacancy Index is based on a count of advertisements from three online recruitment web sites.

Reflecting the growing importance of online job boards, the Department has developed an Internet Vacancy Index covering all occupations, across all skill levels. IVI is based on a count of online vacancies newly lodged on SEEK, My Career, CareerOne and Australian JobSearch. Vacancies are coded by DEEWR to around 350 occupations.

The Internet Vacancy Index (IVI) was released in May 2009, and includes data from March 2006.
