The Australian workforce is employed across 19 broad (1 digit) industries as defined in the Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) 2006, developed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and Statistics New Zealand.

Industry Outlooks
provide detailed analysis of employment characteristics, trends and prospects by industry, and highlight specific sectors where job growth is the strongest. Specific issues highlighted in these outlooks include workforce ageing, employment share by gender, educational profile, weekly earnings, average hours worked, regional and occupational employment.
The left navigation bar also provides access to the Industry Profiles. These profiles offer a large array of statistical information in graphical form for both broad and specific (ANZSIC 3 digit) industries. The data are presented in easy to use, customised Excel workbooks and cover:

- projected job growth
- workforce ageing

- employment by region and main occupations
