Australian Government - SkillsInfo

About us

The SkillsInfo website is an initiative of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

SkillsInfo is designed to provide skills-related information for industries and regions, as well as on education and training and skills issues. The website is built around five themes: Education and Training, Industries, Regions, Skills Issues and Skills Links. The home page gives the user the option of selecting a region of interest, an industry, education and training and skills issues.

SkillsInfo includes Industry Employment Profiles that present, in graphical form, a comprehensive suite of data on employment characteristics, trends and prospects for all industries.

Complementing the Industry Employment Profiles are the Industry Employment Outlooks. These reports, in easily downloadable PDF format, provide a detailed analysis of the key employment characteristics, trends and prospects by industry, and highlight specific sectors where job growth is the strongest.

There are several Skills Issues to be covered by the SkillsInfo website: understanding skill shortages; skills in demand; workforce ageing; occupational information; employability skills; and ICT skills. There are also links to skill-related websites, including economic trends, employment services and statistics on skills.

The SkillsInfo website has been developed under the auspices of the Skills Outlook Working Group, including representatives from the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE); the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government; the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR); the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism (DRET); the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS); the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER); and peak industry bodies including the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group), the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and the Business Council of Australia (BCA).
